NY Times article analysis

Jacob Sardino

Two of the methods conservationists are using to restore red listed species are GPS devices on collars on the animals and drones used to herd the species away from harmful spots, human made or not. In my opinion the collars are less effective in protecting the red listed species because the GPS is only made to track where the animals go, this does not protect the animals even if they do get in trouble because by the time the humans get thee it will be to late. Now the drones really help out, if a herd of animals on the red list gets in trouble the drone can direct them out of it and save them most of the time. As for the bighorn sheep, the genetic diversity in the species will drop severely because of the lack of diversity in environments because all the government wants to do is make money and the way to do that is to increase the amount of area that the public can see in the wilderness which makes a lot of the bighorn sheep's environment the same. In order to combat this conservationists are starting to introduce different obstacles fort he sheep to adapt to such as invasive species these adaptations will increase the genetic diversity in the sheep. In my opinion these newly replenished species should not e considered as wild animals because they did not go through the natural adaptations to become genetically diverse and that's why they don't deserve the title of "wild" animals.
